About us and Endometriosis Resources
There are a lot of Endometriosis websites and blogs out there, but we see a need for an additional blog that addresses the actual process of researching and accessing proper care: how to navigate what is accurate and inaccurate Endometriosis information, what to expect when looking for the right care, what it may be like for you, dealing with insurance, accessing expert excision surgery, the recovery process, and so much more. With endometriosis awareness on the rise, many are discovering what their symptoms mean, experiencing failed treatments, dealing with being dismissed by their doctors, and feeling lost. We like to think of this blog as the next course in your endo education, through the experience of two different individuals who have already been through the years of navigating Endometriosis and to the other side of having successful excision of Endometriosis surgeries. Because we have had such wonderful experiences at the Center for Endometriosis Care, I must address that some posts will be in favor of their care; this is in no way us saying the only way to get proper treatment for endometriosis is through them, but simply our experiences. There are other facilities and surgeons who are fantastic surgeons.
If you have not already been introduced to Nancy’s Nook on Facebook or the Nancy’s Nook website, we often suggest taking a look. The Facebook page is fully private and dedicated to thorough, accurate information about the disease. While the page is on Facebook, it does not operate as a traditional support page. The page acts as a sort of library, with posts, studies, reviews, and experiences archived in a files section. You can search the page for your topic of choice and likely find your question already addressed at some previous point. We like this resource as a starting point, but we aren’t endorsing anything specific associated with it.
Other resources we trust and like to utilize include:
The Center for Endometriosis Care website. They maintain an incredible and thorough library of information.
In Sixteen Years. This is a podcast dedicated to support and proper information pertaining to Endometriosis and chronic illness.
My Illness Will Not Win. This is a wonderful community resource developed by Professional Certified Coach Rosemarie Philip. She provides a membership community, but also an entirely free introductory course on Endometriosis that is loaded with phenomenal information and interviews.
Endopaedia. “Endopædia is a comprehensive, online resource on the origin, diagnosis, and optimal management of endometriosis, and represents the life’s work of world-renowned endometriosis excision surgeon and gynaecologist, Dr. David B. Redwine, M.D.” Description is taken directly from the website.
The Indian Centre for Endometriosis (ICE). The website of Dr. Abhishek Mangeshikar with outstanding information about Endometriosis along with blog posts.
Northwest Endometriosis and Pelvic Surgery This is the shared website for Dr. Nicholas Fogelson and Dr. Shanti Mohling. They provide a wealth of information on Endometriosis along with surgical videos and blog posts.
Center for Endometriosis & Advanced Pelvic Surgery The website of Dr. Gaby Moawad. There is fantastic information here on various types of Endometriosis, along with resources for patient education.
We do not give medical advice. That would be doing you, us, and the medical community a disservice. It is incredibly difficult to find a trusted voice with endometriosis, so the desperate search for medical advice makes this difficult water to tread, but it is the way it is, and anyone selling a cure, specific diet, or specific lifestyle modifications for Endometriosis should be approached with great caution.
